About LawyerDesk
- What is LawyerDesk?
LawyerDesk is a staffing platform created by lawyers, exclusively for law firms. We connect U.S. attorneys with bilingual legal professionals across Latin America — paralegals, legal assistants, receptionists, and other key support roles — all supervised, equipped, and ready to perform from day one. - Who owns and manages LawyerDesk?
LawyerDesk was founded by the partners of Murray Osorio PLLC — a leading U.S. immigration and litigation firm known for representing high-profile cases such as Kilmar Abrego and handling national-level matters before the U.S. Supreme Court — together with AZC Abogados, one of the Top 50 law firms in Colombia, and Bilingüe Law, a specialized staffing provider for U.S. immigration law firms.
Together, these companies — Murray Osorio, AZC Abogados, Bilingüe Law, and LawyerDesk — form a global group with over 600 employees dedicated to providing legal and operational excellence. The group is run by lawyers, for lawyers, ensuring unmatched industry expertise and compliance across borders.
- Where are your professionals located?
Most of our team members are based in Cali and Medellín, Colombia, where we operate our own offices (over 300 m² / 3,200 sq ft of modern facilities). Some positions may also work remotely but are still supervised and monitored daily from our sites. - What languages do your professionals speak?
Every LawyerDesk professional is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. While English/Spanish is our primary pairing, we do our best to accommodate other languages when requested — even though it’s less common, we go the extra mile to make it possible.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- How do you recruit your staff?
We recruit through legal and bilingual talent networks, universities, and professional associations. Each candidate goes through background checks, English and legal knowledge assessments, and behavioral interviews led by experienced attorneys. - Can I interview candidates before hiring?
Absolutely. You can interview as many shortlisted candidates as you need. Our team helps coordinate the interviews, provide feedback, and make recommendations based on your specific practice area. - How long does it take to start working with a LawyerDesk professional?
Typically, 1 to 3 weeks from kickoff to onboarding. Our process is fast because we maintain a pre-vetted talent pool ready for immediate deployment.
Operations & Supervision
- Are LawyerDesk professionals supervised?
Yes. Every professional is actively supervised by local team leads and managers who ensure punctuality, productivity, and quality. Supervisors are attorneys or trained coordinators who understand U.S. legal workflows. - Do they work from home or from an office?
We offer both options:
- On-site: from our offices in Cali and Medellín.
- Remote-supervised: from their home with company-provided hardware, security protocols, and constant monitoring.
You decide what fits best for your firm.
- What equipment do they use?
All LawyerDesk professionals use company-owned laptops or desktops, configured with encrypted drives, VPNs, and updated antivirus software. Your information stays protected at all times. - What happens if my assistant is absent or leaves?
Our clients never go unassisted. LawyerDesk offers immediate coverage and replacements, ensuring business continuity. We also handle transitions, training, and backups internally — so you don’t have to.
Legal & Compliance Protection
- Do I have any legal obligations in the country where my LawyerDesk professional works?
None. You have zero legal risk in the professional’s country. LawyerDesk is the official employer of record, handling all labor laws, taxes, benefits, and local compliance — so your firm is fully shielded from liability abroad. - Could hiring through LawyerDesk create a “permanent establishment” for my firm in another country?
No. That’s one of the main advantages of our model. Because LawyerDesk — not your firm — employs and manages the personnel locally, you do not establish a legal presence or permanent establishment in Latin America.
This means you’re protected from potential international tax exposure, audits, or regulatory actions in the countries where your team operates. - Can my firm be sued or held responsible under foreign labor laws?
No. All employment relationships are between LawyerDesk and the professional. We assume full responsibility as the local employer. You only receive a service agreement governed by U.S. law, ensuring clear jurisdiction and total peace of mind. - How do you ensure compliance and ethical hiring practices?
Our operations are run by licensed attorneys who fully understand cross-border legal obligations. We comply with international employment standards, U.S. data protection principles, and local labor law in every jurisdiction where we operate.
Cost & Contracts
- How much does it cost to hire through LawyerDesk?
Our pricing is transparent and all-inclusive: salary, benefits, equipment, supervision, payroll management, and workspace (if applicable). You only pay one monthly rate — no hidden fees, no surprises. - What’s the minimum contract term?
Most clients start with a 3-month initial period, but we offer flexible terms. Long-term partnerships are rewarded with loyalty benefits and staff continuity guarantees.
Security & Confidentiality
- How do you protect confidential information?
We take data security seriously. All devices are owned and managed by LawyerDesk, connected through monitored networks, and restricted to authorized systems. Every professional signs strict NDAs and follows U.S. privacy compliance standards. - Can you integrate with our case management software?
Yes. Our professionals are trained in Clio, MyCase, Docketwise, LawLogix, Filevine, and other leading platforms. We’ll ensure seamless integration with your existing workflows.
Performance & Value
- How do you ensure performance?
We track attendance, task completion, and quality metrics daily. Supervisors conduct performance reviews and provide coaching. Plus, we only work with professionals who want to grow in the legal field, not temporary freelancers. - Do your professionals have other jobs?
No. Every LawyerDesk team member is full-time and exclusive. We monitor system usage, schedules, and productivity to ensure they’re fully dedicated to your firm. - What kind of results do clients usually see?
Most firms report:
✅ 40–60 % reduction in staffing costs.
✅ Faster case handling and client response times.
✅ Better consistency than freelancers or agencies.
✅ Peace of mind — no HR headaches.
